Our Impressions from Our Second Erasmus meeting in Greece, 10-16.02.2019

20/02/2019

Sunday 10.02.2019

The second meeting of the Erasmus Plus "Dealing with Gifted Education" project began with the wonderful and recent Greek partners, the bright sun and the majesty of Volos, white and silent, locked between the Mount of Pylon and the emerald waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

Bulgarian team was accommodated in a cozy hotel with a splendid view of the Greek islands and the boats, anchored in the silent harbor at the sea.

 Monday 11.02.2019

The meeting started early in the morning when all the participants were taken by organized transport from our hosts. To a greater extent, we already knew the other teams and we still felt the splendid memories of the first meeting in Alcala De Henares. And now it was time to met our colleagues again like our old friends.

The first workshop began with a warm welcome from the director and the staff of 9 PRIMARY SCHOOL OF NEA LONIA. Students under the guidance of their teacher opened the official meeting with folk and contemporary dances.

After the warm Welcome Ceremony, the real part of the project started. Our meeting began with the presentation of the logos of the participating countries. The vote was based on the Eurovision principle. The logo of Bulgaria was chosen for the best logo, and became the official logo of the project "Dealing with gifted education".

The presentations of the participating countries with main topic "Exploring and Presenting Gifted Children in Different Areas" have been exciting and very interesting because we managed to "open up", albeit little, the door of knowledge and experience in different countries and their education systems.

Tuesday 12.02.2019

The day started excitingly. The all participants in the project meeting presented presentations about famous scientists from each country, with their scientific and creative successes, significant for the whole world.

The Greek partners met us with Mrs. Stella A. Dimitrakopoulou and two of her colleagues, who explained us about organizing extracurricular activities and working with prominent math students, in details. After the meeting with them, the hosts provided us with a great opportunity to preserve the wonderful memories of our common work and take them to our country in an extremely non-traditional and interesting way - we placed beautiful photos of Volos on a piece of stone and made from them special souvenirs. It was a very exciting experience.

The afternoon continued with a sign seeing tour to the picturesque villages of Mount Pilion - Makrinitza and Pilot

Wednesday 13.02.2019

On Wednesday, our work began with watching a wonderful movie "GIFTED", about the "battle" between the teacher with a parent, whose child is gifted - a conflict close to all of us "a teacher - a parent - a child".

We had the opportunity to analyze the movie through skillfully asked questions. We worked in groups and presented our views in our responses.

The day continued with a city tour and a visit to the University of Volos, where we met Mr. Theodoros Kokinos and he presented to us two very interesting and important lectures about gifted students and how to organize the special classes.

At the end of the meeting, the Turkish coordinator Mr. Sefa Askeki introduced us the detailed program for the upcoming meeting in Izmir, Turkey during the first week of May, 2019.

Thursday 14.02.2019

Early nn the morning we left for Meteora. On the trip we were accompanied by a group of children from the host school. The pupils were wonderful: smiling, educated and inquisitive. With interest, they listened to the stories of the guide.

Near to these strange earthly formations, the rock objects, to which the buildings of the monasteries are "perched", we "experienced the windmills", the tranquility of God's cloister, and the knowledge of the Orthodox Church.

Friday 15-02.2019

The archaeological town of Dimini was just another exciting experience. We saw the remnants of the ancient times and a lifestyle from Late Neolithic. That day we were also in the company of students from the Turkish school, who again made us a pleasant impression

We visited the Archeological Museums in the city of Volos. The exposition was very rich and took us to past times

We looked at Volos Railway Station and heard interesting stories about her story.

In the late afternoon the Estonian team introduced us to the results of the first meeting in Alcala de Henares.

At the end of this day, our hosts had organized a wonderful evening full of laughter, national dances and new friends.

Saturday 16.02.2019

The week went unforgettable. The memories of what we have heard, what we have seen and shared about the work with gifted children, the efforts of teachers and their work with young talents are more than remarkable. They are inspiring!

Thank you, Volos for the warm welcome, for all unforgettable moments of a new level of cooperation and friendship between the teachers of Greece, Turkey, Spain, Romania, Estonia and Bulgaria.
